DAHON was founded on a vision of "green" mobility, a form of transportation that not only serves to keep people healthier, but also preserves the environment for the next generation.
In 1982, DAHON ignited the folding bicycle revolution with the introduction of the DAHON Folder, the forefather of most modern-day folding bicycles. Today, DAHON is recognized as the world leader in folding bicycles. Spearheaded by the guiding principles of innovation, reinvention and technological leadership, DAHON is committed to creating quality products, a unique riding experience and green mobility solutions for people leading active, environmentally friendly lifestyles.
Dr. David Hon has always been eager to discover how things work. His family immigrated to the USA from Hong Kong when he was nineteen years old, and he was able to complete his education at UC Berkeley, UCLA, and USC. After attaining his Ph.D. in physics, he was recruited by Hughes Aircraft Company In 1972.
Working together with his brother Henry, the two developed the first modern folding bicycle and proceeded to unfold the bicycle's potential. 220+ patents and 30 years of quiet evolution and ingenious technologies later, DAHON has shaped the way folding bikes are made and the way we get from one place to another. Focused firmly on a green future, DAHON remains unyielding in redefining green mobility.
What's more, DAHON practices what they preach: many of their 800+ employees travel to work by bike, public transport, or a combination of both and participate in biking events on weekends and holidays.
