Counterfeit versions of the popular Streamlight Nano key chain flashlight have been reported and received by The Counterfeit Report. The Counterfeit Report evaluated both the authentic NanoLight and its counterfeit counterpart.
Truly tiny, the authentic Nanolight is a weatherproof, personal flashlight featuring a 100,000 hour life LED. Includes a non-rotating snap hook for easy one handed operation when attached to a key chain.
The authentic Nanolight will run up to 8 hours on 4 alkaline IEC-LR41 (STL61205) "coin cell" batteries. The bezel on/off switch on the authentic light is tight and precise, with no sloppiness in the (very fine) threads.
The counterfeit light has sloppy threads and the bezel and body of the light may separate on their own. The counterfeit light evaluated did not have the correct Streamlight IEC-LR41 batteries provided in the authentic Streamlight Nano, and was notably dimmer than the authentic light. Differences in the quality and style of machine work were noted.
There are very significant and easily identifiable quality differences between the authentic Streamlight Nano and the counterfeit light.
Authentic Nano lights have silky smooth tight threads, and precise on-off lighting action.
The authentic Streamlight Nano we received has 2 "O" rings as shown here.
The counterfeit Nano we reviewed has only one "O" ring and sloppy fitting, poorly cut threads.
The authentic Nano has two "O" rings set into machined groves. The fake has only one, floating loosely the barrel.
Fonts are distinctly different and narrower on the fake Nano, which is missing the tail on the "t" in "Pat."
A different bevel and machine work on the snap hook connector body are apparent on the authentic and counterfeit Nano lights.
The authentic Nano has a notable bevel, the counterfeit is almost flat.
The grooved machining on the flashlight bezel stops right at the beveled edge on the authentic Nano.
The groves on the counterfeit Nano extend slightly past the beveled edge into the tapered body of the light.
Counterfeiters even skimp on batteries. Compare the batteries included with the authentic Nano with the counterfeit's batteries.
One battery provided in the fake Nano is improperly assembled and the seal is bulging. The counterfeit was notably dimmer.

Although nearly identical, the counterfeit does not have a shadow on the bottom edge of the black header, and is a bolder orange.

The fake packaging is missing the shadow under the black header, has a noticeably different "O" and "G" font in "Nano Light" and other font and alignmen
