The web is saturated with 1000's of websites that offer counterfeit Dr. Dre Beats headphones. In fact we have seen over 5,000 ads for websites selling Dr. Dre headphones from spammers using false and untraceable IP addresses.
The counterfeit versions Dr. Dre's are very similar visually, and when you discover you bought a fake, the seller (and your money) is gone. Simply, the counterfeit packaging and product are extremely difficult to detect visually unless they are compared to an authentic product.
Don't rely on stock (advertising) photos of authentic Dr. Dre packaging - it is NOT the product you will receive. The manufacturer warns:

2. If a website is offering low pricing if you buy more than one pair, they're not an authorized Beats by Dr. Dre dealer.
3. Make sure the shrink-wrap on the exterior is tight and professional. Auction sites offering products with no box or manual, no warranty or documentation, are counterfeit. Bottom line: if you get Beats products in unprofessional packaging, they're fake.
4. Any cheap, faded, damaged packaging, labeling, strange markings or misspelled words are all sure signs of counterfeits.
And be forewarned, counterfeiters are sophisticated and make every attempt to visually duplicate the authentic product. Although they still do make mistakes, there are constantly new versions marketed to correct previously identified errors, so simply put -- Buyer beware, some 200,000 pairs were seized by officers and customs at UK ports in 2013 destined for unsuspecting consumers.
Look for a professionally packaged product with tight shrink wrap. The authentic product will have the "tm" symbol (trademark) next to the model and the name "Dr. Dre. Many, but not all counterfeits lack the "tm" symbol
Hundreds of China web sellers offer counterfeit Dr. Dre Beats Solo headphones. In this example, just $10.37 with free shipping to the US.
Counterfeit products often find their way to re-sellers on eBay and are sold to unsuspecting buyers as authentic.
We're not sure if this seller is offering "6" or "b" Beats headphones. However the image in the background shows the trademarked Dr. Dre and Solo headphone branding and 'b' Beats logo.
These are $10 counterfeits from China.
You may think you are buying the authentic Beats headphones, but these Beats and their box are counterfeit.
To be assured you are buying authentic Beats, buy from authorized Beats' retailers.
This ebay "bargain" lacks the "TM" symbol and interestingly, although "shrink wrapped," it is accompanied by a photo the headphones out of the box.
Simple mistakes identify this as counterfeit.
The counterfeit Dr. Dre headphones are offered on a Chinese website for $7.79 in 7 colors - an immediate indication they are fake.
They will find their way to online retailers, eBay and swap meets to unsuspecting buyers.

Both listed accessories are missing in the counterfeit product.
Fake Beats by Dr. Dre often come in different colors than what are actually made. Studio headphones come in 10 colors. Check the Beats website to authenticity of advertised colors.
These Beats are not offered in the Beats product line.
Even the serial number behind the ear cup (we've altered the number) on the authentic headphones is being faked by counterfeiters.
If your Beats are missing a serial number, they are fake. But, the presence of a serial number does not mean they are real
If your quick start guide does not look like the one on the left, it is a fake.
If the image on the box is dull and lacks detail, you have a fake. On this counterfeit, the eye detail is not visible and the overall image is washed out.
