How to identify counterfeit Lego Playsets and Character Figures

Lego: Playsets and Character Figures

Edited: Apr 21, 2017

Product Information:

The definitive shape of the Lego bricks, with the inner tubes, was patented by the Lego Group in 1958. Several competitors and counterfeiters have attempted to take advantage of Lego's popularity by producing blocks of similar dimensions, and advertising them as being compatible with Lego bricks or as authentic Lego products.

Fake LEGO DC and Marvel Super Heroes mini-figures are popular counterfeits and offered on e-commerce websites. The counterfeit product quality and plastic is poor, which is reflected in the price. The quality and shape is often an easy identifier of a fake.

Popular counterfeits include the Iron Man, Wolverine, Captain America, Hulk, Thor, Superman, Spider-Man and Batman figures. Counterfeits are illegal, the materials used are unknown, and buyers are supporting criminals when purchasing counterfeits.
